Hey Guys! Today is Monkey Fact Monday! Here is a post Doggy made!
Hey Everymonkey,
For this week's Monkey Fact Monday, I will be going further into a "Go Green" topic!
Ok, monkeys! So, I will be talking about the boreal forest also known as the taiga biome! I wanted to bring this up because this is something that we should know about!
This is a huge forest it stretches all along the top of the earth!
The boreal forest has a special purpose for our world as we know it. Even though the boreal forest doesn't support a lot of life (the leaves on their pine trees are sort-of poisonous and can't support much animal life), this forest contains 1/3 of the earth's trees! These trees play a large part in limiting harmful greenhouse gases by absorbing much of the earth's carbon dioxide.
We need to cut down on some of the things we do, like supporting factories and air pollution. One of the big threats to the Boreal forest, particularly in Russia and Scandanavia, has been caused by human activities which form acid rain. Acid rain happens when we burn large quantities of gas and coal, and the pollution mixes with water vapour into clouds. When rain falls from these clouds, it is called acid rain and it can cause devastation to large parts of this massive forest area. If parts of this forest area die, less carbon dioxide is absorbed so global warming becomes worse.
Let's not lose this wonderful forest that makes our world wonderful!
Peace in the East!

Great post doggy! Great research!
